1. The Little Things (Feature No. 10)

They say that the devil is in the details, and DaVinci Resolve 18.5 has made several subtle improvements that significantly enhance your editing efficiency. These improvements range from new buttons to tweaked features. While they might not be as glamorous as a new effect, they're incredibly important as they streamline your work. Here are four examples of these "little" changes:

  • Color Space Transform node: Now featuring a swap button for better color space round tripping.
  • Edit page: You can now rearrange tracks using the Index.
  • Cut page: Disable ripple edits using a specific button, or by holding Option or Alt while trimming.
  • L-Cuts and J-cuts: These have been added to the Cut page.
  • Color page: Missing LUTs are displayed in the viewer or in their dedicated folder in the LUT browser.

Multimerge (Feature No. 9)

The Fusion page of DaVinci Resolve 18.5 introduces a new node that makes creating motion graphics a breeze. In the past, every element in your composition required its own merge node. Now, you can use one multi-merge node to replace several, organizing connected nodes like layers while still having individual control.

Remote Monitoring (Feature No. 8)

One major addition in 18.5 is remote monitoring, which allows you to stream your viewer to an iPhone, iPad, or desktop computer. This feature is a game-changer for sharing your screen during video conferencing, allowing for smooth playback and preserved colors. It's also a handy tool for solo work when creating content for mobile platforms.

Fairlight Groups (Feature No. 7)

On the Fairlight page, the new group tracks feature allows you to control elements like faders, mute, or solo buttons simultaneously across multiple tracks. This simplifies volume control and provides additional features like making group-wide edits.

Timeline Backups (Feature No. 6)

DaVinci Resolve 18.5 brings the convenience of timeline backups to the existing automated project backups. No need to juggle between project versions - simply restore timeline backups with a right-click.

Relight (Feature No. 5)

DaVinci Resolve 18.5 brings the convenience of timeline backups to the existing automated project backups. No need to juggle between project versions - simply restore timeline backups with a right-click.

Automatic Subtitles (Feature No. 4)

Automatic subtitling is finally here in Resolve 18.5! With just a few clicks, you can generate accurate subtitles that are easily editable in the Inspector. This time-saving feature can be applied to all video content.

Timeline Colour Management (Feature No. 3)

The 18.5 update has made it possible to configure separate Resolve color management settings for individual timelines, allowing for the simultaneous creation of SDR and HDR deliverables.

Export Still Frame (Feature No. 2)

Our second most favorite feature is the simplified process for exporting still frames. What used to require multiple steps through the color page's gallery is now a simple task.

Audio Transcription (Our Favorite Feature)

Finally, our most favorite feature is Audio Transcription. This game-changer not only enhances your editing efficiency but also opens up possibilities to edit in a completely new way. You can now edit interviews by simply editing the text transcript, and DaVinci Resolve will handle the video editing.
